About the Customer

Co-op Academy Delius is a special educational school in Bradford, catering specifically for children who have disabilities or special needs and whose needs cannot be met with the provision and support provided by mainstream school. The Co-op Academy Delius in Bradford is part of the Co-op Academies Trust, a group of academies united by the values underpinning the co-operative movement. Their sponsors support the Academy in making key decisions and in improving standards for everyone. Representatives from the Co-op sit alongside parents/carers, staff and other members of the governing body.

Darryl, the school’s site manager initially contacted Window Control Systems back in December 2022 as a result of a fault on one of the classrooms winding gear. Due to the time of year, the draught throughout the classroom meant it was unavailable for students and teachers to use and teach in. This caused a disruption to the school’s usual routine and therefore the school required help imminently.

Project aims;

  • To replace the faulty winding gear
  • To ensure the classroom had regulated airflow to ensure it was safe for students and teachers to use again.
  • To regulate a comfortable room temperature during the winter months.

The Result

To ensure little disruption was made, Director, Samantha Hague sent a fitter out that same day and solved the issue by installing a brand new winding gear to the classroom. As a result of this work, the windows were able to safely shut, enabling the teachers and students at Co-op Academy Delius to use the class room again.

The Window Control Systems team returned back to the school to perform a site survey later that month. When the contractors were on site, they found further faults with several other winding gears to a number of windows which had previously failed.

The team have recently returned to the school during the February half term and replaced all the faulty winding gears to ensure the students and teachers have a safe and comfortable school/work environment. Co-op Academy Delius are very pleased with the work of Window Control Systems and are grateful we could help solve the issues with the windows.

If your business is looking to introduce a regulated airflow into your work environment, contact the team at Window Control Systems who would be happy to help.
